Our expert Ludivine sheds light on the major changes that skin undergoes after 50, and shares her advice on how to preserve skin's youthful capital.

Can you tell us what changes happen to our skin after the age of 50?

From the age of 50, the skin's aging process accelerates. All biological mechanisms slow down:

| Surface :

The skin's natural protective shield is depleted. Skin dries out and becomes more sensitive.

| In the epidermis :

Skin renewal and the elimination of dead cells are slowed: the time between the birth of cells at the heart of the epidermis and their natural detachment from the skin's surface is longer.

As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile, losing its radiance and softness. Also, the cells responsible for pigmentation function less well. As a result, spots appear, particularly on exposed areas such as the hands and face.

| Deeper into the dermis :

Protein-producing cells are less efficient: there is a reduction in the number and quality of collagen and elastin, as well as natural hyaluronic acid, whose role is to maintain skin hydration.

As a result, the skin loses its natural moisture, elasticity and firmness, leading to sagging and the appearance of increasingly pronounced wrinkles.

Glycation is often mentioned in the context of skin aging. Could you elaborate on this phenomenon and its impact on mature skin?

Glycation is an irreversible natural reaction between a protein such as collagen or elastin and a sugar, resulting in rigidification of the protein.

This reaction produces glycotoxins which accumulate in the skin and disrupt cell function. As a result, the skin loses its elasticity and suppleness.

As a specialist, what specific advice would you give to women over 50 to manage the effects of glycation and maintain healthy, radiant skin?

Of course, you need to reduce your intake of simple sugars and refined carbohydrates as much as possible, as these contribute to raising blood sugar levels.

Programme densifiant - Inflammaging - ENEOMEY

Using the right cosmetics can help prevent and combat glycation. Our REJUV densifying program contains an active ingredient that blocks glycation. In vitro studies have demonstrated that this active ingredient increases protection against glycation of collagen and cells in the dermis.

Inflamm'aging is an increasingly popular term. Could you explain how inflammation can affect mature skin, and what strategies can be adopted to minimize its effects after the age of 50?

Constant exposure to internal and external factors such as stress, pollution and UV rays promotes the formation of free radicals in cells. This leads to chronic micro-inflammation in the skin, which accelerates cell aging. It's a veritable vicious circle, with visible long-term effects on the skin.

To prevent inflamm'aging, it's essential to use skincare products with a high concentration of antioxidants and active ingredients capable of limiting cell inflammation.

Gamme ENEOMEY

What skincare innovations for the 50+ age group should you consider to promote healthy, youthful skin?

Laboratoire ENEOMEY has innovated by integrating an exclusive combination of 3 active ingredients with nutritive and moisturizing agents and vitamins into the dermocosmetics in the REJUV densifying program to meet the needs of mature skin:

| We have developed IA CONTROL

This exclusive complex of active plant ingredients acts to prevent free radicals by boosting the skin's antioxidant defenses and protecting it against inflamm'aging. Studies have shown that the ingredients in this complex improve skin firmness and elasticity by promoting the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

| Next, we selected Time Cell

It contains active baicalin, which acts deep down to stimulate dermal cell division (which slows down with age).

Time Cell and IA Control have been shown in vitro to increase the production of collagen, elastin and acide hyaluronique, and strengthen the dermis of mature skin against the appearance of wrinkles.

What other active ingredients are in the rejuv range?

For the REJUV densifying program, we have selected a unique combination of different hyaluronic acid molecular weights:

| A very heavy hyaluronic acid :

It remains on the skin's surface. It acts as a protective shield, preventing skin dehydration.

| A very low molecular weight hyaluronic acid:

It has the ability to penetrate deep into the dermis to compensate for the loss of hyaluronic acid due to aging.

Last but not least, our REJUV densifying program is enriched with nutritive and moisturizing agents such as phytosqualane and jojoba oil to compensate for skin dryness and rebuild the natural protective lipid barrier.

What are your beauty tips for using rejuv skincare products?

Apply REJUV SILK in the evening in a thick layer and massage into the face to revitalize tissues and benefit from maximum nourishing effect.

Work the cream into the oval of the face for a lifting effect, and into the neck and décolleté.

Use REJUV ELIXIUM around the eyes twice a day, also massaging in.
